Neo – The grand arrival

W810i

Neo, the chosen one has made a grand arrival at my home. Neo? yes I have christened this little marvel as my Neo viz. The chosen one. This little tiny piece of man made machine is nothing less than a ubergizmo. An ultra high tech product from the farm of Sony. After a detailed research on the latest mobiles and required features this tiny tot won my heart and soul and I am all the more pleased to have it in my pocket now. It took for me about a month’s time only to decide which mobile I should go for considering my budget and my frenzy requirements which one perceive would not come anywhere near 30-40k. But as decided I got it for 15k which was my budget. Well exacltly it was 15.5K but it is worth every penny spent. The latest product in the mid range category Sony launched W800i in its walkman series. I had my heart on it since it only costed 14K but unfortunately Sony decided to call the production of W800i off and launched its new model W810i having the same features but a litte more advanced than W800i. Then I switched my interest towards Nokia 6681 since I was introduced to the powers of Symbian OS but it did not impress me much. But it was W810i till the end in my mind and I am thorougly satisfied with this since it is a power package which makes up for IPod, digicam, Stereo Deck.

The features:

  1. Walkman with a 512 MB stick and amazing ear plugs
  2. Super digicam with 2MP with autofocus,flash and 4X Zoom
  3. Ultra light weight mounting to 100gm app.
  4. PC speaker connectivity wich gives the same effect as though played from my PC
  5. Mega Bass option for enhancing beats of songs which is ultimate.

I am falling in love with this piece. Ill be shortly posting the images I take from it coz here comes my Neo, to take over my world.

PC Woes

Mayhem has struck once again and my PC is suffering the wrath of it. From the past 2 weeks I have tried umpteenth times to get its health restored to normal but all the efforts have gone down the drains. Time’s wasting and I am gasping for some breath as I format it now frequently hoping some miracle would do the trick. I was lucky enough to get all the data backup by installing Windows 2000 Professional (only this version gets installed properly). I still havent able to find the cure for the notorious 34 minute freezing problem while installing Windows XP professional. It perfectly hangs up everytime showing up 34 minuted remaining even though I have formatted my PC numerous times both with NTFS and FAT but no success. Some material on the inernet says that its the cause for a hardware fault but no particulars as to which. My only hope stays in getting it installed at some other location which is healthy and then try running in my system. I hope Intel installation works on my AMD Athlon or else it resounds doom for me. Mayday!!!

Blogger Beta

Blogger has released a new version of its blogging application by introducing some new features which are displayed on its beta tour version here. But I still feel Blogger suffers the impact of serious blogging. It may have got customisations for its looks but the main feature which a blogger looks for i.e CATEGORIES… is amiss. Mainly this deviates bloggers from blogger.com. WordPress on the other hand is powerfull in its dashboard features even while giving a blogger to add pages apart from the blogs. Its is mini website in its own.

Event Logging

Event logs provide historical information that can help you track down system and security problems. Its especially usefull in case some fault occurs in your PC and you need to know the source of it. You can access the event logs in Windows system by completing the following steps:

1.Open Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Computer Management console
2.Expand the System Tools node by clicking the plus sign (+) next to it and then double-click Event Viewer. Double click on System.
3. Select the log you want to view.

The AJAX storm

AJAX is ruling the web world. The tools and web applications which come day in and day out have made me speechless looking at the innovations that people the world over implement. THe mere XMLHttpRequest which I got introduced while learning AJAX has taken over like storm. Its an ultimate concept and I would like more and more websites supporting AJAX due it enriching user experience. Just have a look at this and you would have no more questions raised about AJAX, about what extremeties it can touch. Can you ever imagine an entire OS fully controllable by a user loaded in a single web page. Its not far away from actually being into practice but a vision has already been emancipated

RSS and Portals

Its heard frequently that yahoo is a web portal,not a web site. So what is a portal and what is a website?
A web site is a collection of information about some particular stuff.A portal on the other hand is not information.It is a collection of services…(not web services). Yahoo provides mail servcie , searching service, shopping service, messaging service under one roof i.e http://www.yahoo.com thats why it is a portal.Similarly google, amazon, ebay are portals which provide many services under one domain.Portals have to exchange info between the existing services and thats why it requires a different setup and framework to make the services go hand in hand. Portals are customizable,websites are not i.e your mail box can be customized as per your needs but not your bookmarked page. The site content of a portal can also be customized owing to your authencity as the user of the portal.

Websites are used to display information. Some of them release feeds throught RSS or Atom. RSS or ATOM feeds are the way of spreading information. News, Blogs, Mails use feeds to provide the same information onto your site. You just need to parse the content present in the feeds which are standardized globally as the RSS 2.0, Atom 2.0. Feeds is a convenient way to extract information from your site which actually was provided by someone else instead of provoking the user to go to the site every time he needs some information thus saving time n travel.

Javascript Magic

Could you ever think of passing a function inside a function as a parameter and excute it inside the called function just as any other. It can be done by the way of javascript in the most simplistic of the manners without having to bring in a concept of pointers or references paradigm.
Taste this:

function Cook( i1, i2, f )
{
alert("get the " + i1);
f(i1);
f(i2);
}
function show(){
Cook( "lobster","water",function(x) { alert("pot " + x); } );
Cook( "chicken","coconut",function(x) { alert("boom " + x); } );
}

Call the function show() on bodyload in a page and watch the magic!! For more magic read the entire article http://www.joelonsoftware.com/items/2006/08/01.html
